Minnesota Ice Update

It might seem strange that I'm tracking the weather more than 1,000 miles from Georgia, but with my first ice trip of the winter only about two weeks away, I'm admittedly rooting for some good, cold temperatures in northern Minnesota. It's more than that. I have a vicarious interest in watching the ice form and share the excitement of my northern friends like Bob Bohland (pictured above) as they anticipate a new season of ice-fishing. I'm talking about folks who begin anticipating ice fishing in about April each year.

Things are looking good right now. Single digits, no wind and minimal snow this morning in the northern half the state, with a forecast for similarly cold nights and no daytime temps above freezing for several days. Bob said in a recent tweet that he might be on the ice by Tuesday!
