I enjoy watching BASStrakk during Classic competition days, but it's even more fun watching them bring fish to the scales to see how the estimates line up with actual weights. BASStrakk is based on observer estimates, so they vary a lot based on individuals' perceptions. Fishermen also sometimes fly under the radar because of technical difficulties or gaps in cell signals.
This morning I saw the anglers take off, all big with anticipation. Soon I'll get to see what Day 1 brought. We'll most likely also learn a little about what did and didn't work today, although I'm sure the leaders won't reveal much. Based in clips already shown, I do know that Jason Christie and KVD, both of whom appear to ne among the leaders, started the morning throwing jerkbaits.
The weigh-in is more than seeing who caught fish, though. It's when you get to see the emotions of anglers crossing the Bassmaster Classic stage, sometimes for the first time, and to hear what each has to say about the Clasic experience.
