Adrift for Santer Cats

Heavy spring rains in the Santee River watershed have resulted in plentiful water flowing through the Santee Cooper system. When strong currents push through the Diversion Canal, which connects the the two big lakes that make up Santee Cooper, the result is big catfishing fun in the canal.

The best way to catch the cats at this time is to drift, using small pieces of cut herring on vertical lines and fishing them directly beneath the boat.

Nathaniel and I spent some time this afternoon with Kevin Davis of Blacks Camp enjoying some canal cat fun.
