Just spotting three snakes made the fishing trip for Asher. As did the chance to scale some seriously big rocks. He'd never seen river gorges quite like the ones we coursed, and he'd never gotten to fish knee deep in a cold creek in a hot day.
The fact that Asher didn't catch a trout didn't matter to him. He drew strikes and had a couple of fish hooked and got to see the few pretty wild fish that his brother and I caught, and he obviously enjoyed being out there. Several times while we were fishing, he stated simply, "I'm really enjoying this."
Eventually (maybe tomorrow) Asher will hook and land a trout, but he is already hooked on mountain trout fishing.
