Nathaniel, Asher and I would have been happy with a single trout, but we'd pretty well determined that wasn't going to happen. It was about time to head toward the truck, and the next little section downstream looked like it would be tough to wade through. Time to turn around.
Then it happened.
With all three of us standing side by side, a trout nabbed my Ugly Bug, and I set the hook. We've never been so thrilled about a single small fish, and Nathaniel was already reaching for the camera to document our success.
Then it happened.
As quickly as the fish had bit, it shook off almost at my feet.
Cataloochee Creek was beautiful, and we had fun fishing, but its trout were the winners today.
